Course overview

Cementing is a necessary function in well construction and maintenance. It is required to understand cement and additive chemistry and use, as well as lab procedures. At completion, the participants will able to design and supervise the execution of cement jobs. The very important aspects of mud removal and centralization will be covered in detail, so that the participants will be able to apply effectively in order to ensure successful cement job placement.

Special purpose cements will be covered, as well as the situations and the special placement techniques to be employed, which are designed to solve challenges encountered in complex and HPHT well environments. Special cements include cements such as foamed, hollow sphere, microsized, salt, and flexible, etc.

The participants will practice job design exercises, cementing calculations, as well as cement evaluation methods of Liner and Multi-stage cementing jobs using actual well data. Demos of cement design software will be performed.

The course is designed for

  • Drilling / Completion / Production / Intervention Engineers
  • Drilling / completion / Production / Intervention Managers
