Ikon Science Donates 18MM$ RokDoc Software at University of Alaska Anchorage For Newly Recommissioned Research Lab

10/16/2017 - Ikon Science is pleased to be a part of the inauguration of the new sustainable teaching and research computer lab at the University of Alaska at Anchorage.  The RokDoc software will be used  in numerous leading edge geoscience subsurface computing run by professor Dr. Shuvajit Bhattacharya's .  "RokDoc is a very high-end software for subsurface visualization and interpretation. This software is being used by major oil companies around the world. With this software, students can learn how to handle and analyze large 2D/3D seismic and well data to interpret the geology at hundreds and thousands of feet below the surface and explore energy resources. Access to RokDoc will help preparing our students for their future career. It's a set of skills that many companies look for, while hiring."

Ikon Science sponsors academic licensing of RokDoc for graduate students to offer them the opportunity to learn the industry's leading GeoPrediction software platform.  RokDoc software allows for the deliberate integration of the rock physics, seismic data and geomechanics including geopressure to help reveal the complexity of the subsurface.   No matter where the researchers' data originates, a variety of linear and nonlinear workflows, forward modelling and inversion scenarios can be run quickly and efficiently to see what effects changes cause in their work and interpretations.

Ikon Science CEO Mark Bashforth said, “we are pleased to be aiding the start-up of this significant new research department, we hope to contribute to the research and training of new professionals who will pursue the safe and sustainable development of the state's significant resource base“.
