Incident investigation specialist Matrix Risk Control (Matrix) has made a key appointment in the Middle East as the company continues to extend its global footprint.

Experienced crisis communications specialist Rona Young has joined the organisation as business development manager for the region. Based in Dubai, she will be responsible for pursuing new opportunities for Matrix's portfolio of incident investigation support services and training.

Rona brings over 28 years' experience of risk management and crisis communication to her new role. She has particular expertise in the aviation and energy-related sectors, and handled a number of high-profile incidents during a decade of working for London Stansted and Heathrow Airports. During her time in the energy industry, she advised clients throughout a variety of serious incidents in the North Sea and abroad.

Rona's position as business development manager will focus on identifying and cementing new client relationships in the Middle East, where she has been based for the past three years. Her work will incorporate promotion of Matrix's new e-learning suite, which provides organisations with accessible, international-standard incident investigation training in a digital format. She will also act as a liaison point for Matrix's existing clients across the region.

Mhorvan Sherret, commercial director, Matrix Risk Control said: “Rona's appointment will be instrumental in helping us to achieve our ambitious international growth plans. Matrix is already active in the Middle East, however Rona provides us with a permanent presence here. This presence – along with her industry expertise and strong local networks – should enable us to make a genuine impact.

“Our market research indicates that there is excellent potential for Matrix's unique form of investigative support and training in the region and we are very much looking forward to exploring this.”

Rona said: “It is exciting to join the Matrix team as the company seeks to grow its international interests. The Matrix name already enjoys a level of awareness in the Middle East and I am looking forward to meeting with both existing and new clients. It is my intention to build on the company's reputation in the region as there is considerable scope for further market penetration.”

Matrix's latest international appointment follows the announcement of two partnership agreements with New Zealand-based Incident Prevention Group (IPG) and US-based Marine Technology Solutions (MTS) last year. The company's potential for global growth has been recognised by Scottish Enterprise, which has recently accepted Matrix into its account management process.

Matrix Risk Control was founded by former senior police investigators in 2009 to help organisations manage many major forms of operational business risk.  The company provides training and specialist support services in the three core areas of incident recording, incident investigation and root cause analysis. Its team of 15 supports clients internationally and is headquartered in Aberdeen, Scotland. For further information go to www.matrixriskcontrol.com or telephone + 44 (0) 1224 937497.
