ONE Future Welcomes Williams
-Natural Gas Coalition membership reaches 17-
June 11, 2019 – Our Nation's Energy Future (ONE Future) announced today that Williams (NYSE: WMB) has joined the coalition, bringing the total number of member companies to 17.
Williams is an energy infrastructure company focused on connecting North America's significant hydrocarbon resource supplies to growing markets for natural gas and natural gas liquids (NGLs). Their interstate gas pipelines and gathering and processing operations span the United States, including strategic assets in the deepwater Gulf of Mexico, the Rockies, the Pacific Northwest and the Eastern Seaboard.
“Williams is proud to partner with ONE Future and the other member companies in demonstrating our ongoing commitment to environmental responsibility,” said Alan Armstrong, Williams' president and chief executive officer. “As an industry leader that handles approximately 30% of the nation's natural gas, Williams supports effective, voluntary programs to reduce emissions.”
ONE Future member companies represent the entire natural gas value chain and account for approximately 10% of the total natural gas production, 40% of the US natural gas transmission miles and 9% of the US natural gas distribution. ONE Future companies work with each other to promote best practices and share learnings on each company's respective science-based, technology and methods for methane reduction; though each member always has the flexibility to deploy its capital where it will be most effective.
As a ONE Future member, Williams will report its 2018 methane results as part of the gathering and boosting, processing, and transmission and storage sectors within the coalition and will hold a seat on ONE Future's Board of Directors.
“Williams is a strong addition to our coalition,” said Richard Hyde, Executive Director, ONE Future. “Their proven dedication to environmental stewardship should provide good thought leadership for the organizations growth as we work to identify new methods for reducing methane emissions.”
Williams (NYSE: WMB) is a premier provider of large-scale infrastructure connecting U.S. natural gas and natural gas products to growing demand for cleaner fuel and feedstocks. Headquartered in Tulsa, Oklahoma, Williams is an industry-leading, investment grade C-Corp with operations across the natural gas value chain including gathering, processing, interstate transportation and storage of natural gas and natural gas liquids. With major positions in top U.S. supply basins, Williams owns and operates more than 30,000 miles of pipelines system wide – including Transco, the nation's largest volume and fastest growing pipeline – providing natural gas for clean-power generation, heating and industrial use. ONE Future was formed when eight companies came together in 2014 with a focus to collectively achieve a science-based average rate of methane emissions across our facilities equivalent to one percent (or less) of total natural gas production. Since our formation, we have grown to 17 companies accounting for the some of the largest natural gas producers, transmission and distribution companies in the U.S. ONE Future members operate in 11 out of the 19 production basins and other segments of the value chain operate in multiple regions of the country, hence ONE Future's data represent a geographically diverse and material share of the U.S. natural gas supply chain. Its members include Antero Resources, Apache, Berkshire Hathaway Pipeline Group, BHP, Williams, Equinor (formerly StatOil), EQT, Hess, Kinder Morgan, National Grid, Southern Company Gas, Southwestern Energy, Summit Utilities, TransCanada and Williams.
