Visund was proven in 1986, and the Plan for Development and Operation (PDO) was approved in 1996. The field is developed with a semi-submersible integrated living quarters, drilling and process facility in steel (Visund A). Production started in 1999.
The investment decision for the Visund Nord IOR project was made in 2017. The development comprised a subsea template ten kilometres north of the Visund A facility and up to four wells.
- Visund North IOR (improved oil recovery) provides an important contribution to resource utilisation on the Visund field, and is an example of projects we welcome on the Norwegian Shelf, says Arvid Østhus, Assistant Director of Development and Operations in the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate.
