Paris-La Défense, France, August 28, 2018 – Bureau Veritas, world leader in testing, inspection and certification services, has appointed Lars Kverneland as Oil & Gas Manager for Norway.

With 28 years' direct industry experience, including project management, unit/business management and personnel development, Lars, who joins Bureau Veritas following the retirement of Steinar Gronsand, plans to share his wealth of experience and skills as Bureau Veritas enters a period of growth and increased optimism within the oil and gas industry.

The mechanical engineer holds key experience from various leadership roles, as well as developing and honing skills within sales and marketing, strategy, technology development, contract and tender negotiation and co-ordination.  Most recently, Lars has worked as business support manager for the operations department of DNVGL, oil and gas Norway. Lars has played a pivotal role in various projects over the years with his previous employer acting as project manager for large and multi discipline projects within the offshore industry including work with Norsk Hydro, DONG, Equinor (formerly Statoil), ConocoPhillips and BP.

Commenting on his new role with Bureau Veritas, Lars said: “The oil & gas business has experienced some extremely challenging years since the dramatic drop in oil price back in summer 2014.

“As the market picks up across the globe, the activity in Bureau Veritas Stavanger continues to strengthen. I will do my very best to ensure such development continues, working closely with the wider team to grow and develop our Norwegian base.”

Paul Shrieve, Vice President Offshore and Services, said: “We are delighted to welcome Lars to the Bureau Veritas team. He joins the Stavanger office at an exciting time of growth and we are in no doubt that his broad range of experience will add to the dynamics of the workplace.

Lars and Steiner have worked together closely over the last few months to allow for a smooth transition of business and equip Lars with the knowledge and tools required to continue the high quality service that Bureau Veritas is proud to provide its clients.”
