During the month of March 2018, Senex continued its drilling campaign on the western flank of the Cooper Basin, South Australia.

Growler-15 oil development well (ex-PEL 104: Senex 60% and operator)
Cooper Basin western flank, Cooper Basin, South Australia

The Growler-15 well is the first Senex operated Birkhead horizontal well in the western flank. The well was drilled to increase overall recovery from the Growler field and accelerate production from the mid-Birkhead reservoir. Growler-15 was drilled and completed as a horizontal well during the month of March and was brought online through the Growler processing facility on 17 March 2018.

The well was drilled to a total depth of 3,090 metres MD (measure depth) including a 1,037 metre horizontal section in the reservoir. The well encountered 578 metres of net pay and was later completed and brought online as a Birkhead producer.

Marauder-2 oil exploration well (ex-PEL 104: Senex 60% and operator)
Cooper Basin western flank, Cooper Basin, South Australia

The Marauder-2 well is located north of Senex's producing Growler and Spitfire fields (see figure 1) and southeast of Marauder field. The Marauder field was discovered in July 2017 and brought into production in September 2017. This well was designed to achieve both exploration and development objectives, reducing overall cost and risk.

The Marauder-2 exploration well was drilled to test a near field opportunity Spudded on 17 March 2018, Marauder-2 reached its total target depth of 1,956 metres MD and intersected 8.6 metres of net sand in the Birkhead reservoir. The well was subsequently plugged back given lack of commercial pay.

Drilling ahead on a deviated development well Marauder-2 DW1 will continue into April and is set to target the Birkhead formation and test the extent of the original Marauder-1 discovery.
