Africa Oil & Power Introduces Advisory Board

Cape Town, March 6, 2018 – Africa Oil & Power announces the establishment of its Advisory Board, a body of accomplished energy policy makers and business executives who will contribute valuable insights and experience in developing our program and content agenda. The Advisory Board represents the best of the industry in Africa, bringing the wisdom of life-long careers in energy and finance. Members of the board are chosen for their outstanding lifetime contributions to their field, and each individual is a champion of the African energy industry.

“This board is composed of some infinitely knowledgeable and accomplished individuals who have committed their entire careers to championing Africa,” said Guillaume Doane, CEO of Africa Oil & Power. “Their collective body of experience in creating energy policy and striking deals will bring a powerful voice in shaping the conversation of Africa Oil & Power on and off the stage.”

A key function of the Advisory Board is to act as an effective vehicle for engaging African governments to help them promote and attract investment in their oil, gas and power sectors. The Board members will assist Africa Oil & Power in collaborating with government leaders and supporting African countries in organizing world-class events that enable investment, promote local content and technology, empower home-grown companies and give a voice to policy makers and thought leaders.

Bringing a depth of public sector perspective, the board is led by its Chairman, H.E. Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, Minister of Mines and Hydrocarbons of Equatorial Guinea. He is joined by Hon. Ezekiel Lol Gatkuoth, Minister of Petroleum of South Sudan and Eric Williams, former Minister of Energy of Trinidad and Tobago. Entrepreneurs and titans of the African energy industry Kase Lawal, Chairman of CAMAC International, and Prince Arthur Eze, Chairman of Atlas and Oranto Petroleum join the ministers at the table. Representing African independent and integrated oil companies as board members are Dr. Thabo Kgogo, CEO of Efora Energy, and Kola Karim, Chairman of Shoreline Natural Resources. They are joined by Akin Odumakinde, CEO of Deltatek, an oil and gas engineering group that has expanded across Africa. Nyonga Fofang, MD of Africa-focused private equity firm Bambili Group, brings invaluable finance sector insights to the group.

Advisory Board Chairman, H.E. Gabriel Mbaga Obiang Lima, said: “It is a privilege to be the Chairman of the Africa Oil & Power Advisory Board. This body of outstanding individuals will give us the opportunity to continue telling the Africa energy story and to help our great continent attract the investments necessary to reaching its full potential. Africa oil and gas has a proud and distinguished history and we look forward to promoting investment, national content, homegrown companies and technology through this board.”
