Introduction

Explorations Reservoir Characterization Department is seeking a Clastic Sedimentologist to join their world-class team. As the successful candidate,' you will apply your skills in sedimentology and stratigraphy to a number of siliciclastic reservoirs occurring in the subsurface of the Arabian Plate.

You will analyze detailed description of cores recovered from a number of subsurface reservoir formations, ranging in age from Ordovician to Permian, as well as significant reservoirs in the Cretaceous.

 

Key Responsibilities

You will be expected to:

  • Conduct detailed core-based siliciclastic reservoir description (core logging) and facies interpretation (sedimentological observations).
  • Assess reservoir quality of exploration and development wells via core descriptions. 
  • Describe and analyze sedimentary rocks from various depositional systems (e.g. eolian, fluvial, estuarine, and shallow marine). 
  • Apply biostratigraphy, chemostratigraphy and sequence stratigraphy to siliciclastic reservoirs.
  • Integrate data for geological modeling purposes, and mentor junior geoscience professionals.

 

Work location is in Saudi Arabia.

 

Job Requirements

As the successful candidate, you will hold a Bachelors' degree in Geoscience, Geology or related field. Masters' degree or PHD is preferred.

You will have a minimum of 10 years' experience with a major oil/gas company.

Full understanding of the principles and application of the techniques in sandstone petrology (e.g. thin sections, SEM and XRD) to siliciclastic reservoirs, particularly in terms of reservoir rock quality and its distribution. 

Competency with industry software, such as Petrel and OpenWork.

 

Work location is in Saudi Arabia.
